Many language immersion programs follow a 90/10 model. Starting in Kindergarten, 90% of instruction is delivered in the target language and 10% in English. The percentages shift each year until ultimately students are receiving equal instruction in both the target language and English by 3rd grade.
However, the key time for learning foundational reading and writing skills is in grades K-2. Forge Education can help your student build that foundation.
-
Sessions include multi-sensory, targeted instruction on phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, spelling, high frequency words, vocabulary, reading comprehension and reading fluency.
-
Targeted instruction on sentence level mastery, note-taking, summarizing, single paragraph outlines, paragraph writing, multi-paragraph outlines and ultimately composition writing
Because sentence structure and grammar can differ between languages, explicit instruction in English writing skills is essential for multilingual students.
-
Proper pencil grip, writing posture and letter formation of the English alphabet
